# Buying Receipt Paper

**Order 2 1/4" x 50' thermal paper when the starter roll runs out.**

***

Your S1F2 ships with one starter roll. You buy replacements. A 50-pack is typical. Smaller packs are fine if the size matches.

### **The size that fits**

| Check | Buy this | Do not buy |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| **Width**      | 2 1/4 inches (57 mm)                    | 3 1/8 inches (80 mm) |
| **Roll size**  | 50 feet long, about 1 1/2 inches across | 85 feet or 230 feet  |
| **Paper type** | Thermal (no ink, no ribbon) | Bond or carbonless |

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** A roll that is slightly too wide will crease and jam. A roll that is too thick will not let the printer lid close.
{% endhint %}

### **Where to buy**

<table data-card-size="large" data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Amazon</strong></td><td>Fastest if you need paper in a day or two.</td><td><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Supply-Thermal-Verifone-Ingenico/dp/B00MMHUYJ6">https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Supply-Thermal-Verifone-Ingenico/dp/B00MMHUYJ6</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>POS Supply</strong></td><td>Listed for the S1F2 we ship. Item T214-050.</td><td><a href="https://www.possupply.com/2-1-4-x-50-thermal-roll-paper-1-2-solid-wall-core-50-rolls-case">https://www.possupply.com/2-1-4-x-50-thermal-roll-paper-1-2-solid-wall-core-50-rolls-case</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

If the Amazon listing is out of stock, search **2 1/4 x 50 thermal paper** and skip 85' or 230' results. Any supplier is fine if the size matches.

### **How to load a new roll**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the printer cover

Pull up the cover on the top of the terminal.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set the roll on the roller

The paper should rest **on top of the roller**. Do not thread it through the roller.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Leave a short tail

Make sure a little paper sticks out past the cover.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Close and print a test

Close the cover and print a test receipt. If the slip is blank, flip the roll and try again.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

***

### **If the lid will not close or receipts print blank**

<details>

<summary><strong>The printer lid will not close</strong></summary>

The roll is too thick. Return it and order **2 1/4" x 50'**.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Receipts print blank</strong></summary>

The roll is in backwards. Flip it. The paper should sit **on top of** the roller, not through it.

</details>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.alternativepayments.io/payments-and-invoicing/pos/buying-receipt-paper.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
